How do I…

Choose between a web conference, webcast or webinar?

While they all start with a “W” they mean different things. Let’s break it down:

Web Conferencing

Web conferencing is usually held in conjunction with a point-to-point call or an audio conference. Participants use their phone to hear the conversation while seeing and/or sharing information from their computer. Usually this type of conference is highly interactive between all participants in the meeting. Whether you are presenting information, collaborating on documents, application sharing or polling your audience, web conferring is a great way to get engage your audience.

Webcast

A webcast is a one-to-many solution used primarily when you have a very large audience and/or your audience is located throughout the world. While most web conferences also combine an audio conference to hear the message, with webcast or streaming, both the audio and visual is accessed on the internet through the participant’s computer speakers. You can choose to have an audio only webcast or like web conferencing you can share slide presentations and add interactive elements like polling, Q&A surveys and event testing modules.

Webinar

Webinar is a specific type of webcast or web conference. In a nut shell, webinars are seminars on the web. Your audience is usually larger with the audio and visual message presented by speakers or trainers. You can still add a level of collaboration by including polling and Q&A sessions at the end of your presentation.
